Features Of Motorcycle Loading Ramps
Motorcycle loading ramps manufactured today have some features
you may not want to do without.
There’s a lot more to motorcycle loading ramps than just the
ramp, or at least there should be. There are several new features that make today’s ramps much superior to older,
traditional ramps. These design innovations make them both safer and easier to use.
Many of the newer ramps can be broken down into sections. A sectional ramp often
consists of three sections joined with a connection rod. This design makes them great for fast set-up or tear down
after use, and for ease of storage.
On sectional ramps, the platform can expand to about thirty eight inches across.
This gives you a lot of space to load or unload your bike. Then once you’ve unloaded your bike, all you need to do
is fold your ramp in half, or even disassemble it to store until the next time.
You don’t necessarily need to disassemble your ramp while you go for a ride. But
if you do, you can stow the ramp inside your truck cab or secure it to the truck bed while you are gone. That
way you don't have to leave it leaning on the tailgate.
Safety features are just as important as ease of use in motorcycle loading ramps,
and maybe even more so. Ramp manufacturers have developed ramps with safety being given prime consideration. One
important feature is the safety straps which can be used in two ways.
The safety straps are used primarily to secure the ramp to your truck during
loading or unloading. This prevents the ramp from sliding while your bike is on it.
Safety straps are also used in holding each section of the ramp together while
you're on the move. If the ramp is not secured during transport, it may shift or slide around, potentially damaging
your truck bed or bike.
Another safety feature is the attaching lip. This comes with rubber pads and it
helps to keep the loading ramp securely in place during loading or unloading. This is really important in
preventing your ramp from slipping while you are in the process of walking or riding your bike up the
ramp.
There is a large selection of motorcycle loading ramps out there.
You'll find that the best ramps are the ones with features that are designed with safety, ease of use, and storage
in mind.
